ASUS Zenbook UX31
With ultrabooks determined to generate a massive influence over the notebook computer markets this year, Asus’ Zenbook puts the level very high. It’s hardly ever that any portable computer, or mobile device as an example, actually blows us away but Asus’ Zenbook UX31 does really well in just every single key area. The design and style on the device is elegantly eye-catching and uncluttered while its solid aluminium shape balances simplicity of design with a trendy, advanced aesthetic. By far the most amazing aspect of the 13.3″ Zenbook is how thin and light-weight it is, coming in at a barely noticeable 1.3 kg, that made it a pleasure to take anyplace.
ASUS Zenbook UX31 Review
But nevertheless, the Zenbook’s attractiveness runs beyond its appearance, since it features a second generation Intel Core i7 2677M CPU running at 1.8 GHz and 4 GB of RAM, together with included Intel HD Graphics 3000 (but no AMD or Nvidia GPU offering). Launching and using multiple programmes, exploring online, having fun with videos and working on office is speedy and responsive, making the Zenbook great to make use of. Inspite of the high-end processor, we have been pleasantly surprised by how small amount of heat it made.
The 13.3″ screen additionally impressed; boasting a 1600 x 900 resolution which supplied exceptional clearness that was sharp and clear inside yet still visible outside in direct sunlight, in addition to a good variety of viewing angles.
Key elements
The chiclet keyboard – unfortunately not backlit – features keys that are very well spaced along with a large responsive trackpad. Superlative sound, thanks to Bang and Olufsen audio, a micro HDMI port, one USB 2.0 port and one USB 3.0 port along with a headphone out jack, are all on offer here, as is an SD/MMC card reader.
On account of a 256 GB solid state drive offering the storage, the Zenbook takes only 21 seconds to start from an off state to be ready for work. From sleep, it takes a mere five seconds for the notebook to awaken. On a full charge, the Zenbook offers a battery life (with Wi-Fi on and screen at maximum brightness while playing video) of just below a commendable five hours (4 hours, 42 minutes). Pushing brightness down to 50% gave us closer to 6 hours.
The Zenbook is a thing of beauty in computer form – a good looking display, quick cpu, outstanding sound and overall attention to detail make this laptop computer a winner.

You didn’t think Dell was going to sit out the Ultrabook fad, did you? We’ll never know exactly what the hold-up was, but whatever the company’s excuse it finally has something to compete with the likes of the MacBook Air and ASUS Zenbook UX31. The company just announced the XPS 13, which weighs in at a shade less than three pounds (2.99, to be exact) and has a wedge profile that tapers from .71 inches to .24 (18 to 6mm). With a starting price of $1,000, it sports an aluminum lid and carbon fiber chassis — a material we wish more Ultrabook makers would incorporate. Though it has a 13-inch screen, it’s the kind of panel with bezels so narrow that Dell was able to build a chassis small enough for a 12-inch system. Put bluntly, expect this to be one of the most compact Ultrabooks around (though not the lightest). What’s that? You want technical details too? At the entry level, it’ll come with a Core i3 processor, 128GB SSD, 4GB of RAM and backlit keyboard, though you’ll also be able to…

i currently have the soundblaster x-fi extreme… however im not 100% happy with the sound from that card… do you think the Asus xonar ds would be a improvement over the x-fi …….? nice review though… you covered everything we needed to know and also showed all the bundled accessories… so well done
Sadly, no 60$ can buy you a very good motherboard, and especially Asus ones, as their enthusiast motherboards are very expensive.
i would buy a dell studio 15 they are very reliable and work very well
you get what you pay for when you buy a dell
but on the other hand asus have very good product too
they might not be widely known as dell but they are cheep and they work reasonably well
but i would recommend buying a dell they one of the best consumer pc out in the market

Yes, it is a good brand. ASUS is a company that has made a name for itself with computer parts all through the past decade, and has in the past few years started putting out quality laptops, notebooks and netbooks. They have well designed products and good customer support.
ASUS are a world leader… they do some of the best computers/components in the world in their fields of speciality… they have a great returns/warranty policy

Dell isn’t among the first manufacturers to put an Intel Ultrabook on the streets, but it isn’t exactly late to the party. The company doesn’t have an official attendance at CES 2012 unlike many other manufacturers such as HP, Acer and Asus, so it sent us an early unit for a hands on last week. Unfortunately the unit we saw wasn’t a final shipping model so we weren’t able to benchmark and properly review it. This was a real shame, but we’re looking forward to getting our hands on a final unit soon for our full XPS 13 review. The first thing that strikes you about the XPS 13 is how compact it is. Despite it being a 13-inch display, the 31.6 x 20.5 cm footprint is narrow and Dell makes no secret of its desire to be smaller than the 13-inch MacBook Air but with a similar screen size. It’s thin, too, with a 6-18mm footprint and is a gorgeous-looking device. Our previous Ultrabook design best has to be the Asus Zenbook but the Dell XPS 13 really cuts it. It looks the part and feels it too…

By the time HP unveiled its first Ultrabook, the Folio 13, other heavyweights like Acer, ASUS, Lenovo and Toshiba had already gotten a head start of up to several months. But being fashionably late to market may have worked in Hewlett-Packard’s favor: the Folio 13 ($900 and up) is temptingly priced for what it is. Even the base model comes stocked with a 128GB SSD, backlit keyboard, HDMI port and Ethernet jack — specs that undercut the ASUS Zenbook UX31 and 13-inch MacBook Air, and render the $900 Acer Aspire S3 nearly irrelevant. Not to mention, it brings business-friendly features such as TPM circuitry that other Ultrabook makers have omitted from their 1.0 products. But surely HP cut some corners to get here, no? Is this really as sweet a deal as it seems? Funnily enough, the answer is "yes," on both counts. Well I'm a confirmed Asus user even though, I had a little trouble with my P6X58D Premium. Not knowing your Cpu I would suggest browsing the site below. Also when you get the choice narrowed down go to the Asus forums [2nd link]. In the right hand upper corner you can input the model and see what kind of problems others have been having.
I've heard complaints about Asus support but I've never had any. I do know their site seems to have a lot of info compared to Gigabyte et al.
I would make sure your ram is on the QVL for the board you end up buying. These new boards can be rather picky about ram.

whats the difference between asus ati and a normal ati?
sus means suspended, meaning take away the 3rd. Basic chords are made up of 3 notes- the tonic, 3rd and 5th. The 3rd determines whether a chord is major or minor.
So in an A major chord, the notes are A, c#, and E. But in an A minor, its A, C, E. By taking away the 3rd, you make it neither major or minor, so it can be played in either key.
However there are usually numbers after, like Asus4 for example. This is where you need to know what key youre in. The '4' just means add the 4th note to whatever chord your'e playing while still taking away the 3rd. In A major, You'd take away the C#, but add a D to make a Asus4.

Thanks a lot for uploading this video and posting all the FAQ in the description and comments. I have a Asus K61IC and it's been about a year and sometimes very rare I would of gotten a blue screen but all my hardware tested fine, RAM, HDD, CPU and would not overheat. But eventually this started to happen, but only on battery power. The GPU is running pretty hot 57 degrees Celsius at idle, I'll pop it open and see what I can do with some AS5. When I plug the power adapter in it goes away though.

I like Susie. What is Asus? Is that supposed to be the girls name and susie a nickname or middle name? I'd stick with Susie as her name. Idk about spinner. I like Spencer better…spinner reminds me of a merry go round or ferris wheel. And wasnt that a kids name off of Degrassi? My sister-in-law used to talk about a "Spinner" off of Degrassi.
(Oh wait, I just realized that you said brothers. Does that mean "Susie" is a boys name? No, thats weird. Sorry)

well can tell you one thing, a 1000 watt psu really doesn't run the Rampage III extreme to well, if you use the wattage tool on asus web site you will see even for a rather simple set up with the rampage III extreme you should have a minimum 1050 watt psu. I personally went with a 1200w psu.

According to the motherboard specifications, it will support up to 8GB per slot, for a max of 32GB. It requires unbuffered memory. You can use either ECC or non-ECC parts. You can use memory speeds of DDR3 2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1800(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066.
Based off of this information, I do not see any reason these parts would not work. ASUS also has a similar G.Skill part number on their QVL.
